Combining their complex guitar tones with the melodic sensibilities of pop, LA-based indie-punk band wayword aims to create a sound that is familiar and entirely new all at once. This goal is realized on their debut (self-titled) album released June 29th, 2021 and their subsequent single “POP/IRRATIONAL” released Feb 19, 2022.
Meet wayword
wayword was formed in 2016 by Albert Lopez in Monterey Park, a suburb of Los Angeles. Albert writes for months before bringing the material to the band, locking into the studio, and crafting the sound of the final project as a group. Inspired by groups such as Dinosaur Jr. and The Frights, wayword crafts songs that are earnest and heartfelt; but arent afraid to pack a punch.
